Elizabeth Jones is currently Director of Literacy and Learning at the National Library with responsibility for the Library’s nationwide Services to Schools and leadership of the library’s strategic directions and partnerships for reading, literacy, and learning development. Elizabeth has worked in libraries, education and literacy for many years with a focus on leading and contributing to cross-sector networks with a particular emphasis on services and support for young people. She played a key role in the establishment of NZ Children’s Book Foundation and the School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (SLANZA) and is active on Ministry of Education and library sector advisory and working groups. She is a past Convenor and Judge of the Children’s Book Awards and the Book Industry Awards and is currently on the governance group for the cross agency ‘Increasingly Digital’ project exploring how teachers and students discover, access, use, create and share learning resources with a particular focus on New Zealand content and the possibilities and challenges of future learning environments.
