The Great Debate: ‘It takes a village to raise a writer’.
Producer and presenter of Radio NZ’s Standing Room Only and The Weekend, Lynn Freeman, will chair The Great Debate on Saturday 22 September, at 4.30pm. She will be joined by the following leading New Zealand writers who will argue the assertion ‘It takes a village to raise a writer’:
Raybon Kan: Stand up comedian and award-winning newspaper columnist
Renee: Author of eight novels and eighteen plays including the beloved Wednesday to Come
Sisilia Eteuati: Lawyer, writer, poet, blogger and Samoan feminist
Victor Rodger: Journalist, actor and award-winning scriptwriter
‘…no artist of any art, has his (sic) complete meaning alone‘ said T.S. Elliot and yet the act of writing is a very solitary act. Come along to see how these panellists will woo the crowd with their arguments for and against the importance of community and individuality in creating great literature.
